The customer of the interior is german-born American, owner of the biggest club in the USA and of a radio station in Panama City Beach. Patrick has two degrees: a law degree from the University of Miami and a Banking and Finance degree from Georgia State University in Atlanta. He has visited more than 48 countries, living in Rome, London, Dusseldorf, Boston, Miami, Atlanta Frankfurt and Vienna.
For the design of his apartment in Kiev Patrick decided to trust to ZOOI interior studio. The main requests to the designers was to show the advantages of accommodating in a historic house, introducing loft elements and, at the same time, filling the apartment’s design solution with comfort and warmth. Meanwhile, Patrick wanted the interior of his apartment in Kiev to be modern and actual for many years forward.
Solutions
Initially the designers Maxim Doschinsky and Pavel Voytov showed to Patrick several options for the space planning - this is the first step that ZOOI studio usually takes into account with each customer. In the end, was chosen the option of an apartment of 135 m2 even more spacious. Kitchen, corridor and living room were combined into an open space. Thanks to the minimalistic design, the kitchen seems like part of the open space.
The entrance to the apartment looks very minimalist and concise, and every element of the wall decorated with veneer is a hidden shelf or cupboard! The customer did not even immediately realize that all this was the storage system until the designers showed him the “stitches” in the modules. The entrance from the vestibule into the living room is decorated in the shape of an arch with two mirrors on the left and right.
The designers decided to use an eclectic style to emphasize the historicity, the high ceilings, the size of the area and, at the same time, to implement the customer's directives on the modern interior. In the process of dismantling, Pavel Voytov and Maxim Doschinsky discovered what they foresaw to find already at the stage of visualization - a beautiful “native” brick, which solved the problems regarding Patrick’s loft preferences. For aesthetic reasons, some walls were covered and decorated with moldings. A modern painting with beautiful mysterious women and landscapes has become a unifying element of the decor throughout the apartment.
The dining area was decided to organize near the windows. The kitchen is very compact and male in itself, but it has everything! In fact, part of the terracotta module near the kitchen is the storage system with integrated appliances. The rest of module decorates the entrance to the guest bathroom, where black marble tiles and bright paintings brought a real gloss to it!
The master bedroom is combined with a wardrobe, which is located inside of a gray block, creating the impression of another room. Indeed this is a full-fledged room, but for a wardrobe! The bedroom also leaves opened two brick walls that, for design reasons and daylight features of the room, were painted in frosted dark green.
Behind the bed, the designers placed a desk. It is almost invisible when looking directly at the bedroom. Sitting behind him, Patrick will have enough natural daylight besides having a direct perspective on TV.
Tips
In the guest bedroom, made in black and white colors, a classic and a loft style were combined, as in all flat interior. All the room seems bright and cozy because of the balance of colors, details and the daylight.
In the main bathroom, during the redevelopment, the designers carried out a global revolution. They did not only completely change the style of the room, decorating it with black marble tiles and selecting high-quality luxury sanitary ware from European manufacturers, but also changed the location of the shower and bath, moving them to the windows. Also, Pavel and Maxim stylishly responded to Patrick’s wishes for a sufficient number of shelves: one is located to the left of the washing area. Due to its open structure, the furniture in the bathroom is not conspicuous at all.
